Bridget's blessing

Before Bridget was born in May, Cassie asked if I would make her blessing dress.  For those of you who really know me, you know that I am a big fat chicken.  Cassie found a few examples of dresses she liked on the web and sent me pictures saying "I like the sleeves on this one", "I like the bodice on this one", etc.  Stacie Thomas gave me a few patterns to work from but I was still stressing.  I looked around and found two patterns that I could combine.

When Cassie told me that they were going to bless Bridget on Father's Day, I realized that I had 2 weeks to make the dress.  (Of course I hadn't done one thing to get ready before this.  I thought they were going to bless her August 1st.)

I used one pattern for most of the dress.  The whole dress is lined in satin.  The bodice is made from eyelet fabric.  The overlay on the skirt is three layers of sheer fabric.  (I just kept on shortening the skirt to get the layered look that Cassie wanted.)  The sleeves are from another pattern which I altered so they weren't so "puffy".  I even pulled out my serger to hem the skirt overlay and the sleeves.   There are five little flowers sewn on the white satin ribbon around her waist.

I loved how it turned out!  I finished it on the Friday night before the blessing.  WHEW!  (For this picture, she is even laying on one of the blankets I made for her.  FUN!)

Aren't they beautiful together?
